Bill B.Gregory, 85, of Kingsport, TN passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at Wexford House, Kingsport, TN. He was born in Tazewell, VA on August 20, 1928, the son of the late Otho Clinton and Gertrude Elizabeth Fox Gregory. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of Karen, Mike and Dallas, Elyse Cranford Gregory, and sister, Pauline Holloway.
Bill was a 1945 graduate of Tazewell High School, a 1949 graduate of Virginia Tech and a Virginia Tech football fan. He was a member of Reynolds Memorial United Methodist Church for over 50 years. He was the manager of Southern States Co-op for 30 years and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother. He loved to garden.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Ruth Gregory; daughter, Brenda Gilliam and husband Larry of Kingsport, TN; daughter, Karen Woodring of Knoxville, TN; son, Mike Gregory and wife Marilyn of Lenoir City, TN; daughter, Dallas Tyree and husband Robert of Cleveland, TN; grandchildren, Dennis Gilliam and wife Angie, Chris Gilliam and wife Leslie, Jeff Gilliam and wife Monica, Jon Gilliam and wife Saundra, Michael Woodring, Carol Lawson and husband Justin, Lauren Tyree, Emily Tyree, Wendy Gregory and Elyse Gregory; great grandchildren, Brandie, Seth, Ethan, Jacob, Trevor, Logan, Evan, Mattie Kate, Matthew and Denton Gilliam, Colby and Cailyn Lawson; great great grandchild, Mason Gilliam; sister, Louise Davidson; sister-in-law, Loretta Arnold; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Thursday, September 5, 2013 at Blevins Funeral and Cremation Services, Bristol, VA. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm Friday, September 6, 2013 at Reynolds Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Ralph Kidd officiating. The committal service and interment will be conducted following the funeral at Mountain View Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Billy Davidson, Bob Tyree, Dennis Gilliam, Chris Gilliam, Jeff Gilliam and Jon Gilliam. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Golden Key Class at Reynolds Memorial United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Reynolds Memorial United Methodist Church, 327 W. Mary Street, Bristol, VA 24201.
