I'm Home

BEE 2008 has now come and gone!!!
We had a wonderful time.
The pictures will show you some of the different things we did.
When we went for rehersal we were changed from Grandma Bonnie segment to the "NEW" product reveal. That was OK with us. So you will see our name listed on the BIG SCREEN!! Our 2 minutes of fame.

The new products coming out are wonderful. You can see in the pictures a few of the new items. It's an exciting time to be a Longaberger Collector.

BEE excitement

My BEE excitement is growing!!! Jo (my BEE friend) and I have been invited to be on stage at the BEE when they do the celebration for Grandma Bonnie's 100th birthday celebration. We are sooooo excited. Grandma Bonnie is the Mother to the founder of the Longaberger Company, Dave Longaberger.
Each year at the BEE, she and I try to do something different (big or small) and so I think this will be the highlight of our BEE. I'll keep you posted.

Snake Sighting

My greatest fear has come true.
Mike and I went out our front door, to go check on how all our flowers were doing.
I am always looking ahead to make sure I don't see a snake. Well, I walked over
to our bank and then I looked a little to my left - and there it was---- a very lonnnnnnggggg
black snake. I did not panic... I simply told Mike to get in the house as quickly as he
could and ask NO questions. OH MY . . . . . I nearly got sick.
I watched it for over an hour just to make sure it didn't get close to the house.
It came down the bank--slithered around the grass and then back up the bank.

My first phone call was to Debbie - she is the resident snake charmer of Loudon County.
She did rescue a tiny baby snake from my porch once, and it is now her pet.
Well, she informed me she doesn't do BIG snakes. What a friend she is - in my time of need.

I called Carolyn because I knew she could relate. She wasn't home.
I called Elyse and JOe because they were on their way to the house. I didn't want them to come
down the sidewalk.

I called Evelyn - she was no help - she just tried to act all brave and say "AH - it won't hurt you it's just a black snake" ---- she does not get it.

I called Windy, who was out eating with friends - and I scared her to death. She thought something serious had happened. Well - something serious had happened.

Then I called Mother and Daddy. Daddy laughed and laughed and proceeded to tell me how Mother almost picked one up in our house in KY. Me, Milburn and Evelyn jumped on the washer until Mamaw got there to kill it. Don't know what Mother did. Maybe that scared me for life. Daddy offered to give me a gun. I'll think I'll take it.

Well, when Elyse and Joe arrived - down the sidewalk they came. I nearly died (again).
Joe picked up a stick and threw it at the snake -- OH DEAR!! Had we had a hoe, he would have killed it. We will be buying one soon.

We did take (actually Joe did) one picture, but I will NOT post it, because I never want to see it again. It will be erased from my camera.

Now ....LIFE after snake sighting .... doubt if I will go back into the front yard again. Never will I go by myself. Mike cleaned away lots of weeds and more small trees from the bank today - so it will help me to spot better.

Snakes probably scare me more than anything. I don't know why. I just can't be near one or even look at one. So if you are thinking about playing a funny joke on me, with a snake - fake or not-
please don't. This is no laughing matter for me!!

Before and After

Today, me, Forrest, Evelyn and Windy went out for a day of "grooming" and shopping.
Evelyn has another interview tomorrow and decided she needed another outfit.
So first we did hair- cuts - Forrest and Evelyn. You can tell from the Before and After pictures below!!
Then we shopped for a suit, shoes and make-up.
So, Evelyn will walking in a "new" person for this interview. Surely they will hire her!!!

House Hunters

House hunting in Johnson City and Kingsport can prove to be an exciting day.
We looked at small, medium and large houses. All have some great things about them and all have some negative. Some are Stump (small Horse) friendly and some are not.
This is a picture of Forrest waiting at the last house we looked at. Nice steps.

Along the way in Johnson City - what should appear --- this is why I had to find a DR in Knoxville. My wonderful doctor of (25 years) retired and is headed to Congress (maybe).

Just trying out what picture taking could be like from a new house.

Always time for a goldfish break!!
My what big cabinets --- I could have lots of sets of dishes in this house. Maybe I'll move!

A spiral staircase with a history. This staircase was once a tree in "Grand-Mothers" yard.
This house is very Stump friendly. He would make new friends also, deer, chipmunks, rabbits,
racoons and even a fox or two.

A fun day was had by all. The decision has probably been narrowed to two. Just wait till they buy!

Peanut Butter Roll Candy

In honor of Grandma Norie, Elyse decided to try her hand at making the famous "Peanut Butter
Roll". This candy has only been made by a few people in our family. Carolyn has managed to be
the only one who can make it. Elyse decided, several years back, that she needed to learn the trait. She has had several lessons from her "Aunt Carolyn" so she decided she was ready to go at it alone. Well --- after several hours and several phone calls (to her Aunt Carolyn) you can see what happened. She will take more lessons.
